This form is where you enter the 7 letters from the current puzzle. You can enter the letters in any order. The puzzle’s center letter should be capitalized, to indicate that it must appear in every answer. The remaining letters should be entered in lower case.

You can enter more than 7 letters as long there are exactly 7 unique letters. Spaces and other non-alphabetic characters will be ignored. If more than one letter is uppercased, all uppercase letters will be ignored.

Setting the checkboxes discussed below lets you customize the output of the get hints button.

hide solution set

Checking this box will prevent answers to the given puzzle from being displayed along with your hints.

hide letter distributions

Checking this box will prevent letter distribution tables for the given puzzle from being displayed.

show 2-letter tally

Checking this box will add a breakdown of answers from the given puzzle by the first two letters.

show compound distribution

Checking this box will add a letter distribution table for compound words, if any exist in the given puzzle. In addition, when the solution set is displayed, compound words will be marked.

(Note that this option is available only for actual current and past puzzles, not for all sets of letters.)

show plural distribution

Checking this box will add a letter distribution table for plural nouns, if any exist in the given puzzle. In addition, when the solution set is displayed, plural nouns will be marked.

(Note that this option is available only for actual current and past puzzles, not for all sets of letters.)

show debut stats

Checking this box will add a count of the number of words in the given puzzle that are appearing in Spelling Bee for the first time. It will also note how many of these words, if any, were previously disallowed, or if any are being disallowed or reallowed for the first time.

When the solution set is displayed, these entries will also be marked as such in the word list.

(Note that this option is available only for actual current and past puzzles, not for all sets of letters.)

show disallowed matches

Checking this box will include all words from our database that match the given set of letters, not just those that are either known to be accepted in Spelling Bee or that can be reasonably presumed to be acceptable. This includes words that are known to have been disallowed from the puzzle.

(Note that this option greatly expands the solution set and is therefore not useful for help in solving the daily online puzzle.)

hide 4-letter words

The weekly print version of Spelling Bee permits only words of at least 5 letters in length. Checking this box excludes four-letter words from the results, making it more useful in providing hints for that puzzle.

(Note that this option greatly restricts the solution set and is therefore not useful for help in solving the daily online puzzle.)

disable word links

By default, words listed in the solution set link to pages that tally all the past puzzles in which they have appeared. Checking this box disables those links.

This feature accomodates players who prefer to long-press those words on a smartphone or tablet to bring up definitions.

(Note that this option is available only when the solution set is displayed.)
